A Ks Hunter Education Course will be held on March 13 & 14 at the Industry United Methodist Church Industry, KS Registration: 7:30a.m to 8:00a.m Saturday March 13th (pre-registration not required) Classes run from 8 a.m. to 4 pm Saturday March 13th (BRING YOUR OWN BROWN BAG LUNCH) Class on Sunday March 14th will run from 1 p.m to approx 4:30 p.m NO ONE UNDER AGE 11 MAY BE CERTIFIED IN HUNTER EDUCATION. This class is FREE All sessions must be attended to receive cerification. The County Clerks and Election Officials Association, with the help of the News Election Service, is once again awarding $500 Scholarships to students who intend to major in Journalism, Political Science or Communications and are high school seniors with a 3.0 GPA or a freshman or sophomore in college who will complete a minimum of 12 credit hours in college with a 3.0 GPA. Applications and instructions for these scholarships may be picked up at any local high school Counselor's Office or at the County Clerk's Office, Courthouse, 109 East First, Abilene. All scholarship applications must be submitted no later than Friday, April 2, 2010. For any questions, please call the Dickinson County Clerk's office at 785-263-3774.

Free Reflective Belts are available in the Administration Office of the Courthouse. Citizens may pick up these high-visibility belts that are useful for walking, biking, etc. during business hours. Supply is limited. Belts will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis.
Dickinson County announces that the replacement of a bridge located at Old Highway 40 & Eden Road will begin on Tuesday, January 19th. Shortly thereafter Old Highway 40 will be closed at this location to all thru traffic. Eden Road South to 1900 Ave and I-70 are the suggested detour routes. Signage to this effect will be posted in Solomon on the West side, and at Fair Road and also K-15 and Old 40 in the East side, with several other signs in between. This project is being conducted in conjunction by Dickinson County and the Kansas Department of Transportation with funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Scheduled completion date for this project is no later than June 30th, 2010.
