Hazard Mitigation Plan
Dickinson County has developed a Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan to better address potential natural hazards before they occur and to maintain eligibility for mitigation funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The plan wasdeveloped by a Hazard Mitigation Planning Committee (HMPC), with participation from county and city departments, and state and federal agencies.
The plan addresses a comprehensive list of hazards, such as tornadoes and flooding, and will assess the likely impacts of these hazards to communities in Dickinson County. It also sets goals and prioritizes projects to reduce the impacts of future disasters on people and property in the county.
